April 9th is upon us! This Saturday, the Let Us Never Forget Scholarship foundation holds its annual dinner and fundraiser. Monies raised at this event are key to the number and amount of scholarships that will be given in the next year. This year, there will be a record number of Gold Star parents attending the celebration of their sons and daughters lives. Several of the parents will be making presentations.
Mr. Jack Cassidy, CEO of Cincinnati Bell is our emcee this year. The program has shaped up nicely and the evening promises to be one of inspiration, entertainment and surprises. Mr. Conley White, singer and songwriter will introduce “Never Forget”, a special song he wrote for the Let Us Never Forget Scholarship foundation. A small portion of the song was played as a teaser on the Bill Cunningham show. We have had a number of inquiries with regard to obtaining a recording of the song. It will be available on Saturday night.

Fast approaching is the Let Us Never Forget Scholarships annual April 9th fundraiser. Every year seems to be better than the last and the 2011 affair should hold true to that tradition. The event honors the local heroes who have fallen in Iraq and Afghanistan. Proceeds of the evening are used to provide scholarships in the names of our local honored soldiers and in the memory of a soldier from each of our fifty states. Our theme this year is "Angels Among Us". It is true, so true.
The evening is expected to be one of inspiration, entertainment, good food and good people. What will give the affair a twist this year? A horse.

April 9, 2004, Pvt. Keith Matthew (Matt) Maupin was captured in Iraq when his fuel convoy was ambushed. On April 9, 2006 the Yellow Ribbon Support Center, founded by the Maupin family, organized the 1st “Let Us Never Forget” Event held at the Oasis Conference Center. Families who have lost a member to war are called “Gold Star Families”. Since the “Let Us Never Forget” event recognizes not only the fallen heroes, but also their families, it has become the largest gathering of Gold Star families at any one event in this area, if not every area of the country.
